Nineteen monolayered Cd arachidate .lms were deposited on .oat glass substrate coated with Si and Ni

over-layers. Two layers have been chosen with very different surface free energies. Melting behavior of

.lms were studied using variable temperature X-ray specular re.ectivity and Fourier transform infrared

spectroscopy measurements. In conformity with earlier studies, melting of the multilayer precede by a

transition from distorted hexagonal to hexaticlike phase. However, the transition temperature to hexaticlike

phase as well as the melting temperature depend signi.cantly on the type of layer. Both the

transition temperatures are higher for the multilayer deposited on Ni layer as compared to those for the

.lm deposited on Si layer. These results can be understood in terms of different surface free energies of

Ni and Si layers. Further, in case of Ni layer, transition to hexaticlike phase is relatively sharper. Even in

the molten state there is a signi.cant difference in the structure of the Cd arachidate .lm on two layers;

packing density of molecules in molten state is lower in case of substrate with higher surface free energy.

These results suggest that the surface free energy of substrate plays a signi.cant role in melting behavior

of Langmuir–Blodgett .lms.

The Bluetooth technology is a wireless technology with very low frequency and short distance technology although very important for communication. This technology also works with remote mode using other communication and transmission technology. The great aspect is that Bluetooth works on very less power consumption and supporting utilities.

This paper focus on advance future application for business and remote medical diagnosis with on-line 24 hours observation of patients. A doctor can check the observation of patient by his mobile phone or through networking. Replace painful wired medical equipment with Bluetooth.

Abstract

Immense color image data has to handle in multimedia processing, so huge storage space is required. To overcome the problem of color image data storage management, color image data compression is necessary. This paper presents the approach based on Fractal coding which falls in the lossy compression category. Proposed approach firstly, separates the three color planes of RGB color space images and then the grey level Fractal Coding algorithm is applied on individual planes independently. Proposed approach is implemented for the numerous indoor and outdoor color images. Implementations are carried out with different size of domain blocks and range blocks. Encoding and decoding time, image compression ratio and peak signal to noise ratio parameters are used for the performance evaluation. Results are compared and represented with the performance graph. Implementation results show that smaller compression ratio with higher reconstruction quality can be achieved with smaller domain blocks and vice versa. The proposed approach can be useful according to the individuals' requirement of compression ratio and image reconstruction quality for the huge color image database in multimedia. The encoding time of proposed approach is more in comparison with the decoding time but more competitive with respect to the compression ratio in comparison with the existing color image compression standards.

Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) has established itself as one of the popular modeling techniqes in teh field of control systems, expert systems and complex systems modeiling. This paper presents a fuzzy neural inference system for modeling a student in the context of web-based intelligent tutoring system. The proposed model has been implemented and tested for simulated student data. Our effort of bringing ANFIS to the field of intelligent tutoring systems seems to be the first attempt of its kind.

Abstract

With the explosion of knowledge and the aim of developing a knowledge society it has become crucial to develop more effective, interesting and action oriented teaching learning process. University of Malaya as a pioneering research university in Malaysia has encouraged its dedicated faculty members to develop innovative teaching

learning methodologies to make it student centric. Under the umbrella of Action Research group this research started in 2009 and the salient features along with the methodology, process, outcome and analysis are discussed in this paper. Many engineering subjects are highly mathematical, analytical and descriptive. To keep the students attached to the basic concepts, theory, analysis, design and application, new teaching – learning systems are to be developed. One of this is Start, Stop, and Continue technique. In this all the students were divided in small groups of 4 students per group. Each group was given three coloured cards to use them during the delivery of the lecture in the class. A green card to indicate start, a red card to stop and a yellow card to continue were made available to each student of the each group. This was highly appreciated by the students specially those who were shy of asking questions in the class. The data collected in 12 weeks duration of 6 cycles of 3 different activities subdivided further in 2 sub activities made all the students very active and collaborative learners. The three main activities were:

1. Classroom activities: a. Lectures b. Multimedia c. Conversations

2. Online activities: a. moodle b. e-forum c. e-resources

3. Group initiatives: a. group discussion b. active learning c. collaborative learning

From the present study it is concluded that given an ambient environment the learning process can be made very effective and all the course objectives can be achieved. Action research has helped empowerment of the student in acquiring knowledge. With this approach the students’ performance improved from mediocre to very good. Their ability to perform as a good engineer after graduation is obvious now.

It is obvious that the human resources are considered as strategic assets. The final product of every organization reaches the customer only through the hard work and selling ability of Retail Distributor Sales Man (RDSM). If they did not perform well there are every chances that the company can lose its market share and the gain goes to the competitor in the industry. With the above backdrop, an attempt is made to answer the following questions. What kind of behavioral and communication pattern prevails between Retail Distributor Sales Men (RDSM) and RDs of an FMCG? And what factors influence the skills of RDSM to achieve their targets successfully? The population of the sample is known in the case of RDSM with respect to a FMCG ( the name is disguised) and thus the researcher has adopted census survey as a whole. A well structured interview schedule is used with multiple rating scales to observe the variables on behavioral and communication pattern. In this scale, the questions are framed in a seven point scale to find the level of agreement, in the case of RDSM. The collected data on various behavioral and communication variable is analyzed by using factor analysis.

It is found through application of Factor analysis for studying the communication and behavior pattern between the RDs and RDSM and through loading on rotated component which gives 25 attributes into 8 factors. They are labeled as, RDs behavior with RDSM, RDSMs, expectation from RD, RDSMs behavior with retailers and RDs, RDSMs perception, communication among RDs, RDSM and SO, RDSMs analyzing skills , RDSMs likeability in team work , Major skill of RDSM. These 8 factors attributed to 74.35 per cent . It can be clearly understand that the Retail Distributor Sales Man (RDSM) needs to improve skills in analyzing the market environment problem solving skills etc. The retails distributor should provide more opportunities for RDSMs growth and should contribute RDSM based on their hard work.

From anthropological view point, land animals seem to be the only species that divides the world. The birds obviously have open sky and the sea creatures have open sea. The land animals have been drawing borders to protect themselves from predators and to ensure food supply. Most of the predatory animals have a system of claiming territories and fighting encroachment. A tiger demarcates his territory by urinating on the periphery. Since the sense of smell is very strong amongst animals, any tiger approaching the territory recognizes that it is already claimed.

The human beings, lacking that sense of smell, have created visual barricades. Some of the barricades are natural. But whenever natural barricades are not available, they build barricades – the Great Wall of China being the most famous.

Apart from these borders and barricades put up physically, there was an important barricade built through the mindset. The preamble of UNESCO states: Wars start not on the battlefields, but in the minds of men. And it is in the minds of men that bastions of peace have to be erected.” These borders and barricades create conflicts and wars.

When survival was at stake due to food scarcity, this was a necessary. However, the world has changed a lot since the days of limited food availability. Technology has made it possible for human beings to have adequate food. In fact, in most developed countries, over eating is the problem – rather than malnutrition. Abstract

The human resources are the most valuable asset of any society and country. Development of human resources and to change their mind set is one big challenge for all developed and developing nations. If any nation or society has an earnest desires to move forward towards a knowledgeable-based economy and be a sustainable first world country, the development of human capital should be top on agenda.

Since last few decades many countries in Asia, Africa and South America have spent more than five percent of their annual budget on education to realize sustainable development of their citizens. Research done by author in developed and developing countries has shown that they have not yet achieved their set goals. This paper discusses the reasons for this failure. The human mind with ten billion neurons in each human brain along with trillions of cells in each body which are at every given nano second are in dynamics position cannot be trained very easily for sustainable development in our education system at all the levels of education from primary to the tertiary.

There are a large number of problems and issues which must be addressed before any country in first or third world wants to address and move towards sustainable development in higher education. Based on the findings some of these issues and problems are:

1. Trained teachers who can motivate the mature and immature brains of the students.

2 Basic infrastructure in schools, colleges and universities for sustainable development.

3. Conducive environment for sustainable development in higher education.

4. What percentage of primary school leavers go for sustainable development in higher education?

5. Is there any will power and determination among the policy makers and policy executors for sustainable development in higher education?

The first research by the author was done way back in early eighties in Nigeria a rich developing nation in West Africa. First of all government started Universal Primary Education system with very good intention and funfair with the hope of providing basic education to all in late seventies. Within next five years of that they allocated millions of dollars to establish many Federal Universities of Technology on the pattern of Indian Institute of Technology in India in every state capital of Nigeria with very noble goals and intentions both the schemes did not bring out the expected results.

Sustainable Development In Higher Education in any society or nation depends largely on the cooperation, foresight and dedication of all the stake holders which among others include the students, their parents, the employers and above all the teachers and planners. In order to meet diverse challenges those are likely to be faced by all the countries for the Sustainable Development In Higher Education along with dreams of self reliance, reasonably high rate of economic development even in the time of economic slow downs what we are seeing since 2008, social and political stability can not be solved by a magic wand. These problems and issues strike at the very fabric of a society. The Sustainable Development In Higher Education is very much possible if efforts are made to have sustainable communication, health, industrialization and above all environmental management. The science and technology should be able to cope and solve some of these issues and the challenges. Peace at all cost among the nations and nature is also one of the prerequisite for a Sustainable Development In Higher Education

Abstract

Machines and machine members’ reliability, availability and operational efficiency are very important areas for all plants. Capital expenditures and running costs are viewed as controllable expenses in these facilities. In the key areas of equipment condition management and monitoring and corrosion management, expertise and technology are available that enable plant operators to meet these challenges with confidence. Through unique advanced-technology solutions, the ability to predict and influence asset availability is provided. Through a comprehensive understanding of equipment health, operational intelligence can be utilized so that profitability is increased and equipment reliability is enhanced. Powerful systems have been developed that facilitate the integration and analysis of data and have been proven to improve equipment reliability, identify potential problems/failures and reduce the total cost of plant operations. This paper discusses the application of this technique on a water turbine test rig which went out of operation due to poor maintenance and operation and discusses how this could have been avoided by using on condition machine health monitoring of the systems. These systems are at the forefront of new technology and have numerous advanced features including: remote viewing capability. The integration of corrosion data with condition monitoring data within a single platform provides truly comprehensive machinery and plant health management. This information, maintenance Managers with a complete real time picture of the status of their plant and equipment, so that they can plan their future line of action accordingly.

Human resource management that is highly administrative and lacks strategic integration fails to provide competitive advantage in today’s context of changing business environment and changing nature of workforce. The strategic human resource management intends to provide a strong link between the management of the human resource and the strategic objectives of the organization.

The paper proposes a model that aims to identify the enabling and deterring factors for strategic Human Resource Management in the following three stages .

1. Formulating organization strategy and translating strategic objectives into HRM strategic objectives and HR Strategy.

2. Implementing HR strategy and HRM objectives through various HRM systems thus linking them to organizational Strategy.

3. Evaluating /reviewing various HRM Systems and their strategic integration providing feedback.

The various enablers and deterrents at each of the stages are identified and a questionnaire was developed to assess the organization on the effectiveness in each of the stages.

The various enablers and deterrents at each of the stages are identified based on the literature and a case study of an Indian unit of an American MNC operating in Hi-Technology sector. Based on the literature and the case study, an instrument was developed to assess the organizations on the three stages. The instrument was tested on a sample of 10 organizations from various sectors.

The paper discuss the model, the various enablers and deterrents, the instruments and results of the survey of the 10 organizations.

Abstract

WDM optical networks are high speed networks and provide very high capacity to transmit the data. It establishes communication between pairs of nodes and assign wavelength to each path. Routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) is the problem to select a suitable path and wavelength among the many possible choices for each connection such that maximize the connection established and minimize the blocking probability using limited resources. This paper proposes analyses of the wavelength assignment problem for the network with wavelength conversion and without wavelength conversion algorithm. These algorithms are compared on the basis of blocking probability; number of wavelengths per optical fiber and number nodes in network whereas the response of the algorithms is calculated by varying the load per link (in Erlangs).

Abstract

Routing in ad hoc network is a great problematic, since a good routing protocol must ensure fast and efficient packet forwarding, which isn’t evident in ad hoc networks. In literature there exists lot of routing protocols however they don’t include all the aspects of ad hoc networks as mobility, device and medium constraints which make these protocols not efficient for some configuration and categories of ad hoc networks. Thus in this paper we propose an improvement of Dynamic Source Routing Protocol DSR in order to include some of the aspects of ad hoc networks as mobility and energy by proposing a new metric to evaluate route based on intermediate nodes weight computed by combining the stability an the battery power of nodes to choose the most stable and powered nodes for packet forwarding. The paper is organized into five parts, in the first ones we give an overview of ad hoc networks and routing protocols and a brief presentation of DSR. However the rest of parts are consecrated for our proposed improvement for DSR and simulation results of Weight Based Dynamic Source Routing Protocol EDBSR finishing the paper by a conclusion and future extension of this work.

Abstract

Mobile Intelligent Networking (MIN) is a term collectively used for the

techniques of providing value added services to customers in

addition to the standard telecom services. These services include

televoting, call transfer, prepaid calling, call screening, telephone

number portability, toll free calls and virtual private networks.

Intelligent Services provided by the telecom operators allow them to

be differentiated from competing operators and thus make profits.

Moreover MIN has opened new vistas for the exploitation of mobile

networks thereby introducing a new meaning to the mobile world.

MIN is based on the Signaling System #7 (SS7) protocol between

telephone network switching centers and other network nodes owned

by network operators. SS7 exploits the intelligence of the network

nodes in order to provide intelligent services. INs are completely

described by the ITU-T Standards Q.1210 to Q.1219 called

Capability Set One (CS-1). Customized Applications for Mobile

Enhanced Logic (CAMEL) is the most powerful variant of CS-1 which

facilitates creation of value added services and allows a user to avail

them even while roaming out of the Home Public Land Mobile

Network (HPLMN). It specifies a set of standards designed to work

on either Global System for Mobile communication (GSM) core or

Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems (UMTS) network and

ABSTRACT

Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is designed for access to Internet and advanced Telephony services from mobile phones. Wireless technology, by its nature, violates fundamental security principles. It does not ensure the identity of the user and the device (authentication), nor prevent the sender of the message from denying whether who has sent it. Wireless technology is hardly new, but its application space is immature and quite possibly disruptive.

In this paper we discuss the WAP specification, by the WAP Forum, partly addresses such concerns with the introduction of the Wireless Transport Layer Security (WTLS) protocol. WTLS is based on the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol, a derivative of the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. This process has its weaknesses that WTLS allows for weak encryption algorithms.

With some WAP clients, users can even disable WTLS encryption entirely. The availability of such options severely limits the security of a WAP application.

It is obvious that the human resources are considered as strategic assets. The final product of every organization reaches the customer only through the hard work and selling ability of Retail Distributor Sales Man (RDSM). If they did not perform well there are very chances that the company can lose its market share and the gain goes to the competitor in the industry. With the above backdrop, an attempt is made to answer the following questions.

What kind of behavioral and communication pattern prevails between Retail Distributor Sales Men (RDSM) and RDs of an FMCG? And what factor influence the skills of RDSM to achieve their targets successfully? The population of the sample is known in the case of RDSM with respect to FMCG (the name is disguised) and thus the researcher has adopted census survey as a whole. A well-strctured interview schedule is used with multiple rating scale to observe the variables on behavioral and communication pattern. In this scale, the questions are framed in a seven-point scale to find the level of agreement, in the case of RDSM. The collected data on various behavioral and communication variable is analyzed by using factor analysis. It is found through application of factor analysis for studing the communication and behavior pattern between the RDs and RDSM and through loading on rotated component, which gives 25 attributes into 8 factors. They are labeled as, RDs behavior with RDSM, RDSM’s expectation from RD, RDSM’s behavior with retailers and RDs, RDSMs perception, Communication among RDs, RDSM and SO, RDSM’s analyzing skills, RDSM’s likeability in team work, Major skill of RDSM. These 8 factors attributed to 74.5%. It can be clearly understand that the Retail Distributor Sales Man (RDSM) need to improve skills in analyzing the market environment problem solving skills etc., The Retail Distributor should provide more opportunities for RDSM’s growth and should contribute RDSM based on their hard work.

While several factors might have been responsible for the brand building of Ghadi, the author has been able to identify three of the most important factors. Abstract-in Ad hoc networks, wireless mobile hosts forming a temporary network without the aid of any established infrastructure or centralized administration. In such an environment, it may be necessary for one mobile host to enlist the aid of other hosts in forwarding a packet to its destination. Mobile hosts and wireless networking hardware are becoming widely available, and extensive work has been done recently in integrating these elements into traditional networks such as the Internet. Oftentimes, however, mobile users will want to communicate in situations in which no fixed wired infrastructure such as this is available, either because it may not be economically practical or physically possible to provide the necessary infrastructure or because the expediency of the situation does not permit its installation.

In this paper, we investigate the behaviors of existing routing algorithms. None of them satisfies the stringent requirements of ad hoc wireless networks. These requirements include: high accuracy, low overhead, scalability in a large network, the possibility of providing QoS routing, etc.. Therefore, we propose a new routing approach for ad hoc wireless network: Top Position Routing (TPR). Similar to link state routing, TPR maintains a global view of network topology. But unlike link state routing, TPR uses the technique to keep the control message small, thus reducing the consumption of bandwidth by control overhead. As a result, TPR can be scaled for use in networks with large populations.

Abstract

Natural farming was practiced since ancient days but the green revolution destroyed it with the greed of producing more grains and vegetables with the use of fertilizers and pesticides. These chemicals are so dangerous that these killed earthworms, bacteria, fungus, algae etc. which provide nutrients to the roots of the plants from the soil. It incurs more cost in producing grains on one side and creates deadly diseases like cancer on the other side because these chemical are absorbed by the plants and in turn go into our body. As such, a time has come when the farmers have to revert back to natural farming which have following advantages: -

1. No expenditure on fertilizers and pesticides.

2. Originality of the soil is retained.

3. Grains and vegetables are healthy to the human beings.

4. No loss of production.

METHOD

‘Desi’ cow is an essential requirement for natural farming. Only ‘desi’ cow and not New Jersey cow is to be used. Cow dung and urine play most important role in the treatment of seeds and preparing solution for bringing originality of the soil. One cow can cultivate 30 acres of land. Following processes would make ‘natural farming’ very effective: -

1. Seed treatment : Take 2 kg of cow dung in a cloth and hang it in 10 litres of water for 12 hours. Squeeze the cloth three times in the water. Add 2 kgs of soil collected from the ‘bund’ of the field where previous crop was cultivated. Stir it well and add 10 litres of cow urine (or human urine). Stir it further. The solution is ready for treatment of seeds. Put the seeds in this solution for half an hour. Damaged or infected seeds will float while good seeds will settle at the bottom. Remove bad seeds and use it for mulching whereas good seeds should be removed and dried for few hours. Don’t rub the seeds as it will take out the skin and damage the seeds. Now seeds are ready for sowing. Use the solution to spray on the seeds during germination. Roots of the seedlings of paddy, tomato, brinjal, onion, chillis, cabbage, cauliflower should be put in the solution for half an hour before planting them in the fields.

2. Amrutpani / Jiwamrita : Add 10 kgs cow dung in 200 litres of water and stir it well clockwise with a wood log or stick. Then add 2 kgs of jaggery or 4 litres of sugarcane juice and 2 kgs of flour of any pulse (beans, blackgram, redgram or arhar) Stir it well. Thereafter add 10 liters of cow / human urine. Stir it well and cover it with jute bag. Keep it for 2 to 7 days for fermentation. Stir it thrice every day for better fermentation. Solution of second and third day is the best. After five days, it gives bad smell due to over fermentation. 200 to 400 liters of the solution is enough for one acre of land. Take the solution near the irrigation drain and mix it through small tap in such a way that it mixes in one acre of land. Amrutipani / Jiwamrita should be used once a month minimum, but it will give good results if used once a fortnight.

Don’t use iron container which gets rusted. Use plastic container or make a pit in the ground. Put solution of water and cow dung for 24 hours in this pit so that it doesn’t absorb more water. Then prepare Amrutpani. Pits can be dug near the irrigation source.

For trees, one should mark the shadow line at noontime when the sun is at the head. Dig a circular trench (2’ wide and 1’ deep) one foot away from the shadow since these are the places where the roots are spread and most effective for roots to absorb nutrients. Two to five litres of Amrutpani are sufficient for one tree to be mixed with water. It may be given twice a month.

3. Natural Pesticides :

Now days it is very difficult to kill some of the pests which attack various crops. Pesticides available in the market have become ineffective and the pests have developed resistance and can survive the spray of these pesticides. However, one can achieve best results by any of the following methods : -

(i) Neemastra: Add 5 litres of urine of ‘desi’ cow in 100 litres of water. Then add 2 kgs of cow dung in this water. Crush 5 kgs of ‘neem’ leaves and add this ‘neem’ pulp in this water. Leave this solution for 24 hours for fermentation. Stir this solution twice a day. Filter the solution and spray on the plants for sucking pests and mealy bugs.

(ii) Take the dried pods of Indian Acacia (Babhul) and make its powder. Dissolve 25 gms of this powder in one litre of water. Filter it and add it into 200 liters of water. Stir it well and spray on the plants for Mealy Bug pest. The powder is excellent teeth protector from any kind of infection and powder can be used as tooth powder.

(iii) Take 10 litres of ‘desi’ cow urine. Add 3 kgs pulp of ‘Neem’ leaves, 2kgs of Papaya leaves, 2 kgs of pomegranate (Dalimbre) leaves, 2 kgs of guava leaves and boil this solution five times. Keep the solution for 24 hours to stabilize. Filter it and mix 2 litre in 100 litres of water. If pest attack is severe, 2.5 litres may be added in 100 litres of water for effective control.

TREE PLANATATION AND FOLLOWING ADVANTAGES

Trees play an important role in preserving the atmosphere of the earth. These generate oxygen during day time and carbon dioxide during night time. Trees help the process of rainfall, reduce soil erosion besides providing shadows and relief to the farmers. However, people started cutting trees for burning it as firewood, constructing buildings and furniture etc. So ecology of the atmosphere was disturbed. Therefore it necessary to plant trees in order to preserve nature, have regular rainfalls, enough of oxygen etc. UNO pays for growing trees in those areas where there is more carbon dioxide and deficiency of oxygen.

During each course, the participants should put 500 plants which can be selected according to the requirements of the area. There are number of plants like ‘neem’, which can be chosen. However, Guruji has promoted one wonderful plant named ‘LAXMITARU’ with following properties: -

1. A multipurpose tree which can grow in degraded soil (barren land) and even in less rainfall areas, unlike euca

2. lyptus, it requires very less water for its growth.

3. Bears seeds in nuts 5th year onwards from which 3 to 6 kgs of oil per tree can be extracted (fit for human consumption).

4. Juice can be extracted from fruit nuts which is malaria resistant.

5. Ideal raw material for manufacturing biodiesel, quality soap, lubricants, paints, cosmetics etc.

6. Nut shells can be used for making board particles and activated charcoal.

7. Leaves remain green throughout 12 months.

8. Termite can not attack the plant or wood of this tree.

9. Mosquitos run away from the area where these tree are grown.

10. The leave and bark extract cure amoebiasis and malaria.

11. After 15 years, the tree can produce minimum 10 cft. high class wood. Since, the wood is termite resistant, it can be used for door/wood frames and furniture.

ABSTRACT

Climate change mitigation will require a global carbon trading agreement with a tight carbon cap to produce a high price for carbon across the world. This would curtail carbon emissions directly and induce large investments in clean carbon Technology. It is in India’s interest to help to arrive at a comprehensive agreement since it is vulnerable to climate change.

In the 1997 world earth summit was held in Kyoto, Japan. The convention, participated by 160 countries of world, was to negotiate binding limitation on greenhouse gases - Carbon dioxide, methane nitrous oxide and halocarbons for the developed nations. Greenhouse gases are globally mixed pollutants with long residence times in atmosphere.

The outcome was the Kyoto Protocol, in which the developed nations agreed to limit their green house gas emissions, relative to the levels emitted in 1990 or pay a price to those countries that do. This brought the carbon trading. The richer world consisting of US, Europe, Japan, Canada and Eurasia account for more than 50% of the current Carbon emissions. Adding China brings the proportion over 70%. In contrast, India accounts for less than 5% of the global emissions. Under the Kyoto Protocol, carbon credits or carbon emission reductions certificates, are issued by the Clean Developed Mechanism Executive Board, the international body that registers projects and issues credits.

The Idea of carbon trading was to make developed countries pay for their wild ways with emissions while at the same time to reward monetarily those countries with good behavior in this regards. Since developing countries can start with clean technologies, they will be rewarded by those stuck with ‘dirty’ ones. This system is poised to become a big machine for partial transfer of wealth from wealthy, industrialized countries to poor, under developed countries.

The market for trading in carbon emissions is estimated to be in the range of USD$ 60 billion to USD $ 70 billion annually. India has already generated close to 30 million carbon credits and has roughly another 140 million in the pipeline for sale, making it one of the largest beneficiates in the carbon credit trade.

It should be pointed out that carbon trading is hugely contentious. The carbon trading market creates transferable rights to dump carbon in the environment and vegetation, far in excess of the capacity of these systems to hold it. Billions of Dollars worth of these rights are to be awarded free of charge to the biggest corporate emitters of greenhouse gases in the Electric Power, Iron & Steel, Cement, Paper and other sectors of industrialized nations, which have caused the climate crisis and already exploited these systems most. The developed countries will thus escape the penalty by simply paying for polluting the environment. Few rich countries will enjoy at the cost of poor countries.

The Banking Sector has witnessed revolutionary changes during the last decade. Especially the working culture & the profitability of most of the Public Sector Banks have been improved rapidly and they are successfully facing challenges being given by Private Sector Banks. The overall performance of entire banking sector has been improved and maintained; especially the survival of Indian Banking Sector has been viewed as a miracle during the global financial turmoil. Apart from other matters, the wage payment to Bank employees and their productivity has always been on targets of criticism from various sector of society. Recently, the employees of Public Sector Banks had paralyzed the nation’s economy by going on two days strike. This strike was the result of failure of talks regarding the wage hike between the Managements of Public Sector Banks, represented by IBA and United Forum of Bank Unions. Every 5 year, the IBA, negotiates a wage revision with the United Forum of Bank Unions. The last agreement was expired on 31.10.07. The Managements of Public Sector Banks have offered to hike wages by 15% but the employees union wants a hike of 17.5%. A hike of 15% will mean an extra expenditure of Rs.4200 crores annually, certainly without any simultaneous & significant increase in productivity. Apart from wages revision, there are some other issues which include implementation of new pension scheme, outsourcing etc.

The paper compares the wages burden on total operating expenses & total expenses among the Public Sector Banks, Private Sector Banks and Foreign Banks. Similarly, it also compares the productivity of Bank employees in the context of wages per employee & Profit per employee. This paper analyzes the link between the wage payment and the profits of all three Bank groups during 2004-2009 financial years.

Abstract

Can or should God be considered a managerial stakeholder? While at first glance such a proposition might seem beyond the norms of stakeholder management theory or traditional management practice, further investigation suggests that there might be both theoretical and practical support for such a notion. This paper will make the argument that God both is and should be considered a managerial stakeholder for those businesspeople and business firms that accept that God exists and can affect the world. In doing so, part one of the paper first discusses the growth of religion and spirituality within the business and academic communities. Part two raises several arguments based on stakeholder theory and business reality to support the notion of God as a managerial stakeholder. Part three addresses the arguments against God as a managerial stakeholder. Part four discusses the managerial implications of considering God as a managerial stakeholder. The paper concludes with its limitations.

Abstract— In this paper a soft computing technique PSIM is used for the performance simulation of the BLDC motor. With the help of its user friendly approach and some basic theories, the corresponding PSIM models for the BLDC can easily be constructed. The simulation results of BLDC motor performance can critically evaluate under various input parameters in the PSIM environment. The accuracy of this approach can also be verified by comparing the simulation results in PSIM with the response obtained from the BLDC motor established results.

It was originally developed by Dijkstra for correctness of the sequential programs. We propose to extend the proof technology into the realm of Distributed Systems. ABSTRACT

Wear is defined as the progressive volume loss of material from a surface due to abrasion, erosion and corrosion. The volume loss due to corrosion is caused by chemical reactions, which can be prevented by adopting suitable measures, whereas abrasion and erosion wear can be minimized by controlling the affecting parameters. Abrasion wear is the loss of material due to passage of hard particles over the surface, where as erosion wear is caused by the impact of liquid/solid particles on the solid surface.

The aim of the present study is to analyze the parametric dependence of erosion wear of Pump Casing Material in sand-water suspension. The effect of various parameters namely, impact angle, particle size and solid concentration on erosion wear of Pump casing Material has been analyzed. This has been achieved by conducting experiments in a pot tester to generate the data at an accelerated rate.

This describes the design of in vacuu, water cooled eam stop (X ray shutter) for the materials science (X-ray diffraction) beam line proposed to be build on the wave length shifter in Indus 2 (2.5 GeV) synchrotron radiation source. The radiation source impinges ~ 1kW poser on the beam stop and the heat transfer capabilities of the beam stop have been evaluated. The thermal analysis as been carried out for the design of beam stop using the finite element analysis calculations using ANSYS software. Design parameters of the beam stop have been optimised. It is also shown that the radiation cooling alone is not sufficient for taking away the heat load. Water cooling of the beam stop is essential.

ABSTRACT

The ability to manage large image databases has been a topic of growing research. Content-based image retrieval, a technique which uses visual contents to search images from large scale image databases according to users' interests. Content-based image retrieval (CBIR) is a area dedicated to address the retrieve and search multimedia documents for digital libraries. We assume that the goal of content based image retrieval is to find images which are both semantically and visually relevant to users based on image descriptors. For content level access, very often database needs the query as a sample image. However, the image may contain information and hence the user does not wish to reveal the image to the database. CBIR is a technology that is being developed to address different application areas – remote sensing ,geographic information systems, and weather forecasting ,architectural and engineering design, multimedia documents for digital libraries, Digital forensic. ABSTRACT

It is truly said that "Irrigation sustains agriculture and agriculture sustains the life”, A large number of irrigation projects have been executed in the country to promote the agricultural production for meeting the demands of society. Since independence food grain production in India has increased more than three fold. However, it has been felt that optimal utilisation of the potential so created has not resulted because of various reasons including deficiencies in the operation of canal systems.

It is established that two most precious resources of irrigation, the water and soil are lost in absence of proper management. In India it has been found that the field boundaries are having a zig-zag alignment leading to long water courses and field channels. This leads to a loss of water through seepage. Another aspect associated with the field geometry is that the fields are not following the slopes that are congenial to the protection of soil erosion.

Considering these two aspects it is proposed in the present case study that the field boundaries are regularised to reduce the length of the field channels and the water courses and the slope length factor of the field be reduced to reduce the soil erosion.

INTRODUCTION

The object of any canal network distribution system is to deliver water to the beneficiary farmers in an equitable manner to ensure maximum agricultural production with a specified quantity of water according to a predetermined schedule. This necessitates proper control of irrigation water over the canal network. In India some water distribution methods are in practice that ensure equitable water supply in the command area of an outlet.

In the command area of an outlet, water courses and field channels are unlined and lot of seepage occurs through these water carriers. Owing to this seepage the optimum utilisation of water is not possible. The losses that are taking place are directly proportional to the lengths of water carriers and time for irrigation, which subsequently depend upon the shapes of individual land hlodings and natural topography of the vicinity.

Present case study is aimed at regularising the shapes of the fields in the command area of Choral project in order to save the water and the loss of fertile soil. For the purpose of study alternatives including the existing plan are proposed and the loss of water during the irrigation and the soil loss are compared for different plans. For the regularization the basic objective is to keep the area of land holding same as existed and the aerial shifting of the individual farmers is also attempted to keep at minimum. In the regularization of the individual fields, the elevation of different points in the command area of a single outlet is also given due importance and the earth work in the elevation shaping is not considered at all.

For the purpose of comparison of water losses, the Warabandi method of irrigation scheduling is employed with suitable modification that evaluates the actual water losses taking place while irrigation. For the evaluation of soil loss, universal soil loss equation (USLE) has been adopted. All the parameters are either evaluated or taken from various sources. At the end, the results have been compared and the suitable alternative plan is suggested.

Methodology

Whenever a distributory is in operation a water course receives its share of water at a constant rate round the clock and water distribution proceeds from head to tail. A schedule of water supply indicating the time and starting and closing of supply of a particular land holding is known as Roster of turns. There is no provision in this system to compensate for any individual farmer who may fail to irrigate in his turn of water for any reason.

Before a farmer receives his share of water, he must spend some time for filling up water course or field channel approaching his field. This time is called filling (time). The cycle of turns on a water course or its branch starts from its head, proceeds downwards and ends at its tail. The supply has to be cutoff from the head when the last farmer is having his turn, the length of upper portion which has been filled with common pool time (filling ) can be discharged only into his field and normally the total time spent on its filling should be recovered from him in lieu of this. But he does not receive all this water at a constant rate. When the supply is cutoff from head, it starts depleting at tail and gradually approaches to zero. Such a supply, beyond a limit is not efficient from the point of view of field application. The farmer needs to be compensated for it and this is done by allowing a certain discount on filling time, the discounted value of filling is -known as Draining .

CONCLUSION

From the present study following conclusions are drawn:

The developed method seems to be useful for better land and water management. The study indicates that in a canal based irrigation system, the regulation of the fields will create an appropriate soil and water management environment. Present land shapes need an urgent regulation since choral project has started functioning

A glucose specific lectin was isolated from the seeds of C. cajan. In native conditions the lectin was found to exist in the form of dimmer of 30000 Daltons, the 16000 Dalton subunits joined by non covalent interactions. The lectin was found to agglutinate only trypsinized rabbit erythrocytes. Metal ions were not required for haemagglutination activity. By isoelectric focusing using purified seed lectin as a marker, presence of lectin was detected in early roots, cotyledons and mature roots. The purified lectin however could not agglutinate local isolates of Rhizobium japonicum, R. trifoli, R.legumino sarum and Rhizobium spp.
